105. Kate O’ Donnell: Ayurveda for Women’s Health

We have a conversation today with Kate O’ Donnell, an expert in Ayurveda, who guides us through holistic ways to approach healing, nourishment, and menopause.

Today we discuss:

  • How Kate’s upbringing created a quiet and steady space, along with plenty of encouragement to be wild.
  • Kate’s childhood dream of going to India, and the study abroad opportunity in India she had that changed the course of her life.
  • The basics of Ayurveda, and the tools like seasonal cleansing, abhyanga (oil massage), tongue scraping, and hot water.
  • The importance of nourishment on all levels for women, especially in the transition to menopause.
  • Kate’s new book and her goal to help women through all the stages of life.

Bio:
Kate is the author of three Ayurvedic cookbooks, is a nationally certified Ayurvedic practitioner and the founder of the Ayurvedic Living Institute.  Kate began to travel to South India at age 20.  More than a dozen extended trips to India and twenty years studying the wisdom traditions of the sub-continent support Kate’s practice of Ayurveda.  Kate also specializes in Ayurvedic education, cooking skills, and cleansing programs, offering online programs, occasional in-person workshops on the road, and professional trainings.  Her offerings aim to help others come closer to their true nature.
